Ladies, the weather outside is terrible and your mood may not be so pleasant after a long day working, dealing with kids and then getting ready for the holidays. PTA bake sale? Ugh. Mother-in-law on the phone? We'll be right there. Deep breath. There's no time (and perhaps no budget) to run out to a local spa for a nice soaking bath and scrub. That doesn't depict you don't get the R&R required to de-stress your life. How about bringing home spa treatments with you for your holidays.

Creating a Bathroom Home Spa on a Budget

You could renovate your bathroom into a five star spa with only one member: YOU. Here are several of my preferred ideas on how you can "get away" and feel great with spa facilities never leaving your house.

- Design your home spa to model your favorite spa. If you like the fact that they supply water out of crystal glasses then buy a good-looking goblet for your bathroom. Invest in that feathery robe and have attractive baskets to place your home spa tools. Hide a few elegant candles that just come out for spa night and special towels that you only use for these special times. Purchase a tiny boom box and have relaxing music ready, try Soundings of the Planet-Healing Music. "Borrow" a do not disturb sign from a hotel visit or make one to dangle outside the door. It's a way to inform your family that you've left out for the next half hour!

- Do you love how before any healing at spa there is always a fast scrub. You can create a quick DIY home body scrub that's same as any anti-aging skin care products by trying the following: Buy a bag of Kosher salt and your preferred essential oil such as lavender or rose. Blend a teaspoon of oil to 12 cup of salt and mix until you have a loose paste. Don't crush the salt granules. Keep this mixture in a plastic bowl close to your shower or bath. By the way, omit the sugar scrubs. The grains are much smaller and less efficient. For myself , I like Nantucket Natural Oils for their concentrated purity. Try adding flowers, including rose petals to this salt mix. Now, just use a cloth or a loofah and scrub your body from head to toe. It's natural, inexpensive and you will feel like silk.
