An Adolescent Talks To Her Drinking Classmates To Discover More Information About Alcohol Addiction And Alcohol Abuse
Heather drank quite excessively on a regular basis with her drinking friends. One Tuesday after school she began reflecting on the amount of alcohol she drank on a fairly regular basis and the excessive drinking of her friends. As a result of this, she civilly asked all of her drinking friends the following question: "what do we really know about alcohol abuse, alcoholism, binge drinking, and alcohol poisoning? Stated another way, how much alcohol addiction and alcohol abuse information do we truly know? For our age, we certainly drink in an excessive manner and I am really beginning to wonder if all of us are headed for a life filled with alcohol-related problems in the near future.
I think we need to go on the web and learn all we can about alcohol abuse, alcohol poisoning, alcoholism, and binge drinking. And then if we have any nagging issues that we really do not understand after we do our Internet research, we can go to the student health center at the college and ask Nurse Wallen to help us understand what we do not know.
It should not come as a complete shock that what Heather said would result in a heated discussion. As a case in point, her best friend since her freshman year in high school, Jaqueline, said that they are too young and too healthy to be worried about excessive and irresponsible drinking. Another drinking buddy named Isaac thought that since most youth drink there is no rational reason why they should be any different. Another drinking buddy named Jazmyn stated that all she wants to do is to have fun drinking with her buddies. And still another pal named Dane in truth agreed with Heather mainly because his parents were both alcohol abusers and both of his parents had a history of alcohol related issues.
Heather openly made it clear to her classmates that she got everything that they had said but that involving oneself in excessive and hazardous drinking at such a risky age in truth cannot be very healthy or something that contributes toward establishing a meaningful life. When a few of her friends asked what kind of alcohol issues Heather was talking about, Heather stated the following: alcohol-related problems like alcohol poisoning (which can be fatal in some instances), alcohol-related traffic accidents and fatalities, and alcoholism and alcohol-related diseases such as heart disease, cirrhosis of the liver, and cancer.
When Heather then stated that irresponsible drinking frequently results in legal, relationship, school, and financial problems, some of her drinking friends finally started to understand how extensive and how destructive careless and irresponsible drinking can be. Undeniably some of her pals opened up and started to tell how these alcoholism and alcohol abuse effects had negatively affected some of their friends and their parents.
After going over some of the alcoholism and alcohol abuse problems that are related to careless drinking, most of her drinking buddies seemed to agree to the idea about getting information on the web. They were, however, hesitant to discuss their drinking behavior with staff at school. As Heather reflected on this she whispered to herself, "at least they are open to finding out more about their hazardous drinking. This is a wonderful start."
